Assam: New building of fire service station inaugurated 

The fire service station will attend to all fire calls and emergency situations in Katlicherra and adjoining areas.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Political, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, inaugurated the new building of fire and emergency services at Katlicherra in Hailakandi district on Thursday.

The new building has been built by the PWD (Buildings) at a cost of little over Rs 2.07 crore. The construction of the building commenced on July 10, 2015 and completed on June 15 this year.

The fire service station will attend to all fire calls and emergency situations in Katlicherra and adjoining areas.

In his inaugural address, Additional Chief Secretary Krishna said that the government was taking initiatives to modernise and strengthen the fire service stations across the State.

Underscoring the need for adopting fire safety measures to combat fires, Krishna urged the people to cooperate with the fire brigade personnel for timely action to minimise the loss of properties.

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli urged the fire personnel for proper upkeep of the wonderful infrastructure and to consider it as their own asset. She thanked the Home department for sanctioning funds for the new infrastructure.

Special DGP (Border), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, senior officials of the district administration and State Fire and Emergency Services were present at the function.
