BSF Observes Rahstriya Ekta Divas at Coochbehar

Sector HQrs BSF Coochbehar and Falakata along with their under command units observed the birth anniversary of Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel, coined as the “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” by the Government, by organising “Run for Unity”, March Pasts and Blood donation camps in Coochbehar town, to foster and reinforce dedication of BSF to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the Nation.
The observance of the birth anniversary of Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel commenced after the “Run for Unity” was flagged off from Roopnagar campus of the Border Security Force, by I P Bhatia, DIG BSF Falakata, at 0630 am.
The participants, with banners and placards containing the messages of “Rashtriya Ekta Divas”, ran from the starting point via Gyan Road Kamchari road Gorosthan Roopnagar, where it culminated. As the event commenced, locals not only encouraged the BSF participants with huge rounds of applauses but also joined the run till its culmination point.
After this event culminated, a grand March Past, comprising of 04 BSF contingents, elegantly dressed in ceremonial dresses, marched around the picturesque lake at Sagardighi, Coochbehar to the tunes of the West Bengal Police Band of Coocbehar Police, much to the delight of the onlookers. Banners and placards containing the message of “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” were also distributed amongst the audience.
After the March Past event concluded, a voluntary Blood Donation camp was organized by BSF at Roopnagar Unit Hospital in association with MJN District Hospital, Blood Bank Coochbehar.
This event was planned to invigorate Rashtriya Ekta Divas amongst one and all, as the donated blood could be precious for persons of any caste, creed and religion. Inaugurating the event, Dr Rashmi Gupta of 101 Bn BSF exhorted those present for the event to wholeheartedly participated in the event.
It was informed to all that donated blood saves precious lives in times of need. Besides it was also informed that donating blood besides being a noble act was also healthy for the body as it is recouped easily.
25 donors of BSF donated blood during the program among which prominent donors among them was by Shri S R Panda, Offg Commandant of 101 Bn BSF
Celebration of “Rashtriya Ekta Divas culminated in a successful manner. Various print and electronic media persons not only covered the event but also participated in the Run for Unity and the Blood Donation Camps.
