IMPHAL- Amid growing security concerns arising from the influx from neighbouring countries in Manipur, the Centre has re-imposed the Protected Area Regime or Protected Area Permit (PAP) in the Manipur as well as in Mizoram and Nagaland.
Under the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958, all foreigners entering these states will now require a Protected Area Permit (PAP).

The Manipur government said that with the re-imposition of PAP, the movement of foreigners visiting the state would be closely monitored and they would have to obtain the necessary Protected Area Permits (PAP) in accordance with the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958.
PAP was scrapped from Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland in January 2011 by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to boost the tourism sector in the Northeastern states.
