Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebrated at Air Force Station Guwahati and Silchar
The Air warriors along with Air Force Band paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil operations. Air Force Band Concert was organised in the evening for station personnel and families including children with the theme Patriotism.

A week long Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated at Air Force Station Guwahati and Kumbigram ( Silchar ) from 20 July to 28 Jul 19. On 20 July , 2019 wreath laying ceremony was organised at the Station War Memorial.
The wreath on behalf of entire Station personnel was laid by Air Commodore Venkat T Mare, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Guwahati. The Air warriors along with Air Force Band paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil operations. Air Force Band Concert was organised in the evening for station personnel and families including children with the theme Patriotism.
On 23 Jul 19, Squadron Leader Sharat Saurabh from 59 Squadron delivered a motivational lecture on role of Indian Air Force and in particular Air Power during Kargil operation to school children of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Air Force School.
The school children also visited Air Force Station Guwahati, where they were exposed to helicopter, transport aircraft units and air defence radar unit. Special emphasis was laid on the role played by these assets during Kargil operations.
To culminate the weeklong celebration, a victory run was organised on 28 Jul 19 and the response was overwhelming as more than 400 Air warriors participated in the run along with ladies and children.
Air Commodore Venkat T Mare flagged off the run for Air warriors and Mrs Sudarshana Mare, President AFWWA (L) flagged off the run for ladies and children. The entire Kargil Vijay Diwas Week was celebrated by Air Force Station Guwahati in befitting manner in letter and spirit.
A week long celebration of the Kargil Diwas was also organised at Air Force Station Kumbigram, Silchar. Various activities were conducted to include screening of movie based on Kargil War, Inter- school painting competition at Air Force School and Kendriya Vidyalaya to spread the awareness among the student about the bravery of those who laid down their lives.
The celebration culminates with Victory Run for all Air Warriors , their families, DSC and MES personnel’s along with Civilian. The entire series of events was a great morale booster for all and instill sense of Patriotism among all the participants
