Manipur: 10 Militants Arrested as police Intensifies Crackdown on Insurgent Groups
Officials confirmed that the arrested individuals, operating in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur, were linked to the KCP and the PREPAK.

IMPHAL– In a major crackdown on insurgency, combined forces of the military, paramilitary, and state police arrested ten militants of banned outfits in Manipur over the past 24 hours, intensifying operations across the valley and hill districts.
Officials confirmed that the arrested individuals, operating in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur, were linked to the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) — two major underground groups in the state. Security forces recovered pistols, documents, mobile phones, and ammunition during the coordinated raids.

Police said the militants were involved in kidnapping, extortion from schools, firing incidents, and monetary demands targeting civilians in the Imphal Valley. These operations are part of a larger counterinsurgency effort being led by joint teams comprising the Manipur Police, Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF, and ITBP.
Authorities also issued a strong warning against the spread of misinformation. A police statement urged the public to verify any videos or audio clips through the Central Control Room, cautioning that spreading fake news or social media posts could lead to legal action.

In a parallel development to bolster law enforcement infrastructure, the Manipur government announced the setting up of a new police station in Imphal and the creation of 12 new Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) posts across nine districts.
These steps aim to enhance supervision of investigations, ensure faster law enforcement response, and strengthen the overall policing structure, especially in sensitive and newly formed districts.
As tensions remain high, authorities have also repeated their call for the return of looted arms and ammunition, appealing to citizens to cooperate in restoring peace and normalcy in the region.
