Meghalaya: Post Poll Violence in Shillong, Former CM Alleges threat to his Life

Conrad Sangma will be sworn-in for his second term as Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday.

SHILLONG/ TURA- Where post poll violence was reported from Meghalaya Capital Shillong, on the same tine former Chief Minister and AITC MLA from Songsak Mukul Sangma alleged threat to his life.

An arson incident was reported from Laitumkhrah locality of Shillong on late Friday evening where an attempt was made by unidentified miscreants at the office of Meda Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. The propitiator of the construction company is reported to be Mawshynrut MLA Methodius Dkhar.

As per media report Methodius Dkhar and Shakliar Warjri, both are  MLA of Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) and supporting the National People’s Party (NPP) to form the new government.

It is to be noted that on March 3, the non-NPP-BJP alliance failed to form the government after two Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) MLAs extended their support to Conrad Sangma-led NPP at the last minute.

On the other hand AITC MLA from Songsak and former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has written to the chief secretary of the state alleging threats to life after some supporters of the NPP threatened to burn him and his house down in retaliation for the current happenings over government formation in the state.

It is to be noted that the NPP chief Conrad K Sangma on Friday evening had already submitted the letter of support to the state Governor, Phagu Chauhan signed by 32 MLAs of the NPP, BJP, HSPDP and two Independent to form the Government in alliance with the NPP.

Conrad Sangma will be sworn-in for his second term as Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday.
