Meghalaya: Three including a woman died in ISBR premises after consuming wild Mushroom

SHILLONG- Three people, including a woman, dead on the campus of the Institute of Science and Bio Resources ( ISBR ) after consuming wild mushroom. The body was recovered from the under-construction site of the institute on Sunday night. All three have been identified as employees of the institute.
While the bodies of 40-year-old sweeper Sheba Khermani were found in one room, the bodies of 43-year-old sweeper Rupert Donbor Dohtdong and 30-year-old watchman Backstar Kharkrang were found in an adjacent room, a senior police official said.

Some people informed the police about foul smell coming from the rooms occupied by the sweepers on the first floor of the building, following which the local police from Mawdiangdiang outpost reached the spot, he said.
During the investigation, a pot of wild mushrooms was found in another room. It is feared that all three may have died due to eating wild mushrooms. Apart from this, the police is also probing other evidence, which could lead to the death of all three.

The bodies of all three have been sent to the North-East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences for postmortem. The police have also registered a case of unnatural death.
