Meghalaya: Trekking along David Scott Trail

The trail was flagged off at 9 am from Mawphlang village on 28 Nov 21. Around 200 trekkers participated.

SHILLONG- On 16 December 1971, the Indian Armed Forces achieved a stellar and historical victory over the Pakistan Army which led to the creation of Bangladesh and the largest military surrender in conventional war after World War II.

To commemorate 50 years of the 1971 War, Year 2021 is beong celebrated as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” (Golden Victory Year).  In the series of celebration, Trekking along David Scott Trail  has been conducted by F Comp Sig Regt under aegis of HQ 101 Area on 28 Nov 2021 for school/college students, Tri Services members, veterans & veer naries.

The trail was flagged off at 9 am from Mawphlang village on 28 Nov 21. Around 200 trekkers participated.

Meghalaya: Trekking along David Scott Trail

David Scott Trail has been named after David Scott, a British Officer.  The route was discovered in the first half of 1800s in the form of a mule track for travelling from Assam to Bangladesh.

The trek is blessed with mesmerizing natural wonders such as cascading waterfalls, crystal clear streams gushing down from mountain, typical Khasi villages, scenic valleys forests groves and expansive meadows.

The adventure activity will also help to create awareness among the civil population about Armed Forces and their role during glorious victory in 1971 War.
