Mizoram- Assam Rifles, Mizoram Police seize methamphetamine worth over Rs 173 Cr

AIZAWL:  The Assam Rifles along with Mizoram Police seized methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 173.73 along the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram’s Champhai district.

The joint team comprising Assam Rifles personnel and Mizoram Police successfully intercepted the drug haul at a border crossing point in Zokhawthar.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the security forces identified several individuals carrying the illegal consignment

However, upon spotting the security forces, the suspects grew suspicious and fled the scene, abandoning the large quantity of Methamphetamine tablets behind.

In total, 57.9 kilograms of the illicit drug were seized, with an estimated value of Rs 173.73 crore.

The consignment has been handed over to local authorities for further investigation, and legal proceedings are now underway to apprehend the suspects involved in this significant cross-border drug trafficking operation.

The seizure marks another critical success in curbing the illegal drug trade in the region and highlights the growing efforts by law enforcement agencies to prevent narcotics from entering India.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down the perpetrators and strengthen border security to curb the inflow of such illegal substances.
