” Multiple FIRs have been filed against Shri Syamkanu Mahanta and Shri Sidharth Sarma in connection with the unfortunate and untimely demise of our beloved Zubeen Garg. Repatriation and Investigation Updates (as of September 20, 2025) –
- CM Sarma coordinated with Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule to expedite the process. Singapore authorities are questioning those who accompanied Garg and conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
- Zubeen’s mortal remains are expected to arrive in Assam by early September 21, after CM Sarma receives them in Delhi later today. If the autopsy requires further time, arrival could be delayed.
- The Assam government has declared a three-day state mourning period from September 20–22, pausing all ceremonial events while essential services continue.
- Multiple FIRs have been filed across Assam against the event organizer, Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen’s manager, Siddharth Sarma, for alleged negligence in safety arrangements.
- CM has directed Assam Police to transfer these to the CID for a consolidated investigation, with calls from the public for a CBI probe.
