Protest against Mizoram Govt.’s comments on proposed Sixth Schedule Amendment

A copy of the Government of Mizoram’s comments has been burnt as a mark of protest.

KAMALANAGAR-  The political parties in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) including Bharatiya Janata Party, CADC, Chakma District Congress Committee, National People’s Party CADC and Chakma NGOs (Central Young Chakma Association, Central Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union & Chakma Mahila Samiti) have jointly held a peaceful protest against the negative comments put by ruling MNF government of Mizoram with regards to the Sixth Schedule Amendment to the Constitution of India with regards to 3 (three) sister Autonomous District Councils of Mizoram today at Kamalanagar the Headquarters of Chakma Autonomous District Council.

Despite raining since the morning, around one thousand people have gathered at Kamalanagar-l Bazarline’s Traffic Point and showed the support and solidarity towards the peaceful protest.

A copy of the Government of Mizoram’s comments has been burnt as a mark of protest. Several slogans were shouted and placards were held by the protesters displaying strong messages like “Government of Mizoram Shame, Shame”, “Zoramthanga Hosh Mein Aao”, “We demand more powers to 3 ADCs of Mizoram and We Demand Article 280” etc.

Mizoram’s lone BJP MLA Dr. BD Chakma, Laxmi Bikash Chakma, Vice-President, CDCC, Doymoy Daveng Chakma, District President, NPP CADC and  Santosh Chakma, General Secretary, Central MCSU have addressed the peaceful protest and condemned the Mizoram Govt.’s negative endorsement on the proposed Sixth Schedule Amendment and have strongly demanded the Government of Mizoram to take back the comments immediately.
