A voter awareness meeting in central Guwahati saw participation from business leaders, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealing for support and higher voter turnout.

GUWAHATI- A voter awareness meeting was organised in central Guwahati on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming elections in Assam, with participation from members of the business community and local civil society groups.
During the event, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed traders over a phone call, urging them to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the forthcoming polls. He stated that the government remains committed to providing a conducive and secure environment for businesses in the state.
The meeting was attended by several prominent members of the trading community and social organisations, including BJP state treasurer Rajkumar Sharma, who addressed the gathering.

The event was organised with the objective of encouraging maximum voter participation in the elections scheduled for April 9. Participants emphasised the importance of achieving 100% voter turnout in the Guwahati Central constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Rajkumar Sharma appealed to voters to support BJP candidate Vijay Gupta, stating that each vote would strengthen the current government. He also underscored the importance of informed voting and cautioned against misinformation.
Participants at the meeting highlighted perceived improvements in infrastructure and business conditions over the past five years, citing developments such as flyovers, roads, street lighting, and urban amenities in Guwahati.

Some attendees also referred to a reduction in alleged informal financial pressures on businesses compared to previous years, though such claims remain part of political discourse and vary across stakeholders.
The discussion included a dialogue session where members of the business community shared their perspectives on governance, development, and security. Many expressed support for increased voter participation as a means to strengthen democratic processes.
The Chief Minister, in his remarks, reiterated that governance and development would continue to be prioritised, and called on citizens to participate actively in the electoral process.
The meeting concluded with a collective appeal for voters, particularly in the Guwahati Central constituency, to ensure full participation on polling day.
