Assam: Govt Official Apprehended For Accepting Bribe In Nagaon
The tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and has been seized accordingly in presence of independent witnesses
NAGAON- A govt official who is a Junior Assistant in the Office of the Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) in Laokhowa, Nagaon has been apprehended for taking bribe on Monday.
The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, has received a complaint against Bipul Mech, Junior Assistant of Office of the Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO), Laokhowa demanded Rs. 15,000/- as bribe from the complainant for processing his transfer petition. Later, the Junior Assistant had reduced the amount of bribe to Rs. 10,000/- .

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached this Directorate for taking necessary legal action against the above-mentioned public servant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 17/07/2023 by a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, in Nagaon, and Bipul Mech was caught red handed in front of Jayshree Cinema Hall in Nagaon town at 2:55 PM, immediately after he accepted Rs. 5,000/- (five thousand only) as part of demanded bribe from the complainant.

Finding sufficient evidence against the accused public servant, he has been arrested by the team of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam.
In this connection, a case has been registered in ACB Police Station on 17/07/2023 vide ACB P.S. Case No. 52/2023 under Section 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
