Assam: Hailakandi surpasses targets under PMUY, PMJDY

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has achieved cent per cent saturation under the Extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (EGSA) in Hailakandi district of Assam .
LPG connections were given to 12,396 women to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households in 247 identified villages across the five development blocks of the aspirational district. The households were selected using the socio-economic and caste census data.
Besides Hailakandi, the other districts of Assam that have achieved 100% saturation under PMUY are Darrang, Dhubri and Udalguri.
Moreover, Hailakandi district has exceeded 100% saturation under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, a financial inclusion scheme. As against the target of 17,954 under PMJDY, 20,181 accounts have been opened, thus achieving an overall 112.4%. The banks that have surpassed the allotted target are Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of India, Canara Bank, State Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO and Union Bank.
Under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, it has so far achieved 90.01% and 70.66% respectively.
Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan has congratulated the officials and others associated with PMUY and PMJDY for achieving cent per cent saturation under EGSA.
Under Mission Indradhanush, the district has achieved nearly cent per cent saturation.
Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal will review the status of progress of the seven pro-poor schemes implemented under EGSA and other development related activities of the aspirational districts of Assam at a meeting with senior officials of concerned departments at Dispur on Monday.
