Assam: Kaziranga to Host Heritage Fair 2026
Kajir Ronghangpi Heritage Fair 2026 to bring together indigenous culture, biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods in the Kaziranga–Karbi Anglong landscape.

KAZIRANGA- The Kajir Ronghangpi Heritage Fair 2026, a national-scale platform linking indigenous heritage, biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods, will be held from March 7 to 10 at Tribal Treats, Bogorijuri in the Kaziranga region of Assam.
The four-day event is expected to attract more than 5,000 visitors, including tourists, policymakers, conservationists, entrepreneurs and institutional buyers from across India.
Organisers say the initiative aims to promote a model of development where culture, conservation and commerce are integrated within the broader Kaziranga–Karbi Anglong Landscape.
According to representatives of the organising team, the fair is intended to celebrate indigenous heritage while strengthening sustainable livelihoods and responsible tourism in the region.

“The Kajir Ronghangpi Heritage Fair is a collective effort to bring together communities, institutions and markets so that conservation, culture and commerce can move forward together,” an organiser said.
The event has received guidance and participation commitments from senior government and institutional representatives, highlighting its growing importance as a regional platform for heritage-focused sustainable development.
The organising committee includes representatives from community leadership groups, biodiversity governance institutions, conservation organisations and business facilitation partners working across the landscape surrounding Kaziranga National Park.

At the centre of the fair is the cultural identity and ecological knowledge of the Karbi and other indigenous communities of the region.
The Heritage Exhibition will feature native wild edibles and indigenous seed diversity, traditional Karbi rituals and art forms, and live demonstrations of bamboo craft, back-strap weaving and natural dyeing.
Other highlights include traditional jewellery-making, tea processing techniques, indigenous games and language sessions, as well as a curated food corner showcasing regional cuisine.

The fair is rooted in the philosophy of “Wild, Weave & Harvest,” symbolising the interconnectedness of biodiversity, craft traditions and agricultural heritage.
A dedicated business platform will also facilitate buyer–producer meetings and value chain networking, enabling local artisans, farmers and community enterprises to connect with retailers and institutional buyers.
Organisers said the initiative aims to integrate local producers into ecotourism and responsible consumer markets while ensuring fair value and dignified livelihoods.
The fair will also host discussions among stakeholders focused on sustainable tourism and biodiversity stewardship, with the goal of positioning the Kaziranga–Karbi Anglong landscape as a model for integrated conservation and livelihood development.
