Assam Minor Found Dead in Bengaluru
A minor girl from Assam was found dead in Bengaluru’s Electronics City area, with police suspecting sexual assault and murder; investigation underway.

BENGALURU- A minor girl originally from Assam was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Bengaluru on Saturday, prompting a police investigation into what authorities suspect may be a case of sexual assault and murder.
The body was discovered within the jurisdiction of the Electronics City Police Station, in an isolated eucalyptus grove in the Bolugudda area. According to police, the victim had been missing since Thursday evening.
She had been living with her parents in a temporary shelter near Vittasandra. After failing to locate her, the family lodged a missing person’s complaint, following which a search operation was initiated.
During the search, authorities located the girl’s body in circumstances that investigators described as suspicious. Preliminary observations at the scene have led police to consider the possibility that the victim was sexually assaulted before being killed, although officials stated that confirmation will depend on forensic examination results.

Senior officers reached the site soon after the discovery, and the area was secured for investigation. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with other applicable sections of criminal law.
Police have constituted special teams to gather evidence and identify those responsible. Officials indicated that multiple angles are being examined, and further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
The incident comes amid a series of recent cases involving violent crimes against women and minors in Karnataka. Last week, a 22-year-old woman from Nagaland was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Chikkamagaluru. In another case earlier this month, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly killed in Bengaluru’s DJ Halli area.

In Mysuru, a 10-year-old girl from a nomadic family was raped and murdered in October 2025, while in 2021, the Karnataka High Court later upheld the death penalty for three men convicted in the gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl, terming it a “rarest of rare” case.
Other incidents, including cases in Madikeri and Hubballi in recent years, have also drawn attention to patterns of violence and the challenges of ensuring safety for vulnerable groups.
While each case differs in circumstances, these incidents have collectively raised concerns about public safety, law enforcement response, and the implementation of legal safeguards designed to protect women and children.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the investigation to proceed. Further updates are expected following forensic analysis and ongoing inquiry.
