Assam: Over 1 kg heroin concealed in a Bolero, seized in Guwahati, 6 held
GUWAHATI- Based on an intelligence input on Saturday night, Guwahati Police Special Squad led by Jt. CP, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, apprehended a Bolero vehicle (bearing registration No MN-07D-3257 ) and recovered a massive consignment of 100 soap cases of Heroin. The net weight of which came out to be 1.324 kgs.
Based on the input, this consignment was tracked by the Special Squad right from Moreh to Churachandpur and then till Sonapur where it was caught.
The packets were ingeniously hidden under the front dashboard and inside the rear tail lights. The vehicle insides had to be opened up by specialist mechanics to get to the drugs.
Four persons were arrested in this regard among whom two were mechanics, travelling with the vehicle to open it up before delivery. Arrested persons are Khaiminlal Touthang (34), Seiminthang Mate (37),Paominthang Lhanghal (30) and Kailalson Khongsai (35). All are belongs from Manipur.
Following forward linkages unearthed by questioning of the arrested drug traffickers, the Special Squad immediately launched Operations in Guwahati City and apprehended the two receivers of the consignment. They are Lulun Kuki (51 yrs), resident of Manipur and Kamkhojim (56 yrs ) resident of Dimapur, Nagaland
In this case the traffickers used a different modus operandi of using an LMV instead of larger vehicles, the HMV for transporting the drugs. Investigation is on to unearth further linkages.
