Assam: RPF of NF Railway recovered gold worth Rs. 38 lakhs
Also recovered Ganja worth Rs. 90 thousand
GUWAHATI- The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N F Railway recovered 800.70 grams Gold worth Rs. 38 lakh and Ganja worth Rs. 90 thousand from Rajdhani Express on 21st December, 2021.
After receiving an information, the RPF, DRI and SIB team jointly conducted a checking in train No. 12423 DN (Rajdhani Express) at New Jalpaiguri Railway station on 21 Dec and apprehended one person namely, Khundongbam Ranbir Meitei resident of Vill-Maibam Leikau, Imphal and recovered 04 Gold biscuits weighing about 800.70 grams.

Apprehended person was travelling from Dimapur to New Delhi. Later, with recovered items the apprehended person was sent to the custody of DRI/Siliguri for further legal action. Value of the recovered Gold is Rs. 38,00,000/- (Approx).
In another incident, on the same day, Constable/Saikat Paul & Constable/V. K. Yadav of RPF Post/Agartala conducted checking in train No. 02984 DN at Agartala Railway station and recovered one unclaimed bag containing 05 packets Ganja, weighing about 09 kgs from coach No. 195638. Later, the recovered Ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Agartala. In this connection a case was registered. Value of the recovered Ganja is Rs. 90,000/- (approx).
It may be mentioned here that RPF of N. F. Railway detected 300 cases of smuggled goods during January to November this year. During this period, the RPF recovered contraband/smuggled goods worth more than Rs. 10 crore and apprehended 99 persons involved in transportation of these contrabands.
