Assam: Saas-Bahu Sammelan in Hailakandi, Upping the ante in wooing women voters
By organising a Saas-Bahu sammelan the Hailakandi administration has upped its ante for creating awareness among women voters .

As part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli along with SVEEP team, District Immunization Officer and District Programme Manager, National Health Mission took part in the ‘Saas Bahu Sammelan’ under Mission Paribar Vikash under Lala development block on Wednesday. A gamut of issues on family planning, safe practices for family, sanitation and hygienic use of sanitary pads were discussed.
Wooing the women voters, Jalli demonstrated the usage of EVM/VVPAT to the Saas-Bahu group to prepare them for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and ensure that they all come out in large numbers to vote on polling day on April 18.
District Media Expert, Monika Das said the women voters displayed great enthusiasm and listened with rapt attention to the impromptu speech by the Deputy Commissioner on core health and hygiene issues and assured her that they would make their presence felt in a big way in the impending general elections.
Agile and energetic, Jalli, around 30 years, a 2013 batch IAS trudged along for around five kms in hilly and inhospitable terrain to Lalpani under Katlicherra revenue circle on Tuesday to motivate women voters.
