Assam: Two injured as a Ro-Pax Vessel collided with several Cargo Ferries in Dhubri
Two people were seriously injured and one of the boats capsized as a result of the accident.
DHUBRI- In a tragic incident, a Ro-Pax vessel, MV Bob Khathing, collided with several cargo and passengers ferries at Jogomaya Ghat in Dhubri, Assam, on Monday. Two people were seriously injured and one of the boats capsized as a result of the accident.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am when the vessel, operated by the Water Transport Authority of India, was on its way from Fakirganj to Dhubri Jogomaya Ghat.

According to Mohibul Sheikh, a sailor on board MV Bob Khathing, the hydraulic brakes of the vessel unexpectedly locked due to a mechanical fault.
He immediately deactivated the gearbox, but the strong current of the river pushed the vessel backwards, causing it to collide with six to seven cargo boats and a passenger ferry, Sheikh said.

The collision caused extensive damage to the lower portion of the cargo boats. The two injured persons were immediately rushed to Dhubri Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Local authorities are investigating the incident to ascertain the full extent of the damage and any possible security breaches.
