Bharat Lok Sangeet Utsav Engages Youth

Two-day Bharat Lok Sangeet Arunachal Utsav concludes in Pasighat, celebrating India’s diverse cultural traditions and engaging youth audiences.

PASIGHAT- The third edition of the Bharat Lok Sangeet Arunachal Utsav 2026 concluded on March 26 in Pasighat, marking the end of a two-day cultural event that brought together a range of indigenous and classical art forms from Arunachal Pradesh and across India.

Held at the Siang River Festival Ground near Raneghat, the festival was organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, in collaboration with the East Siang district administration. Conducted under the aegis of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, the event aimed to promote cultural exchange, national integration, and appreciation of traditional art forms.

The festival featured a wide array of performances, including indigenous folk dances such as Zu-Phon-Shon of the Wancho community from Longding district, Memba folk dance from Shi-Yomi, Aka folk dance from Thrizino, and performances from the Khamba and Nah communities. Classical presentations included Bharatanatyam by Dr. Lata Surendra and Raas Lila from Manipur.

Musical performances also played a significant role in engaging audiences, particularly youth attendees. The Lepcha Folk Band “Laso Mung Kup” from Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh-based artist Taba Chake delivered performances that blended traditional and contemporary elements.

The inaugural ceremony on March 25 was attended by Muchu Mithi, MLA of the 3rd Roing Assembly Constituency and Advisor to the Ministers of Education and Home. In his address, he highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage and traditional practices, noting that these form an essential part of identity and continuity.

Officials stated that the festival provided a platform for artists from various districts and states to showcase their traditions, thereby fostering cultural harmony. The event drew participation from cultural enthusiasts, local residents, and youth, reflecting growing interest in such initiatives.

The organisers described the festival as an effort to sustain and promote India’s diverse cultural landscape while encouraging younger generations to engage with traditional art forms.
