Indian Army Conducts Integrated Multi-Domain Exercise in Arunachal’s Eastern Theatre

The exercise, conducted under the aegis of the Eastern Command, took place in the high-altitude terrain of Arunachal Pradesh, a region critical to India’s strategic defense posture.

ITANAGAR-  In a bold demonstration of joint operational capability, the Indian Army conducted a Tri-Service Integrated Multi-Domain Warfare Exercise in the Eastern Theatre of Arunachal Pradesh.

The exercise, named Ex Prachand Prahaar, was held from 25 March to 27 March 2025, and involved the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and other elements of the Indian Armed Forces in a highly coordinated combat drill aimed at simulating future warfare scenarios.

Ex Prachand Prahaar showcased the seamless integration of modern surveillance systems, advanced strike capabilities, and multi-domain operational planning, highlighting the growing synergy between the different branches of the Indian Armed Forces.

Key Features of the Exercise

The exercise saw the deployment of cutting-edge platforms such as long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft, armed helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), loitering munitions, and space-based assets.

These technologies were integrated to achieve total situational awareness and ensure rapid and accurate target engagement.

Once simulated enemy targets were identified, coordinated strikes were carried out using a variety of assets, including fighter aircraft, long-range rocket systems, medium artillery, swarm drones, kamikaze drones, and armed helicopters.

The entire operation was conducted in an electronically contested environment, simulating modern battlefield conditions where communications and targeting systems are challenged by advanced electronic warfare (EW) measures.

Leadership and Observations

The exercise was reviewed by Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, and Air Marshal Surat Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command. Both senior officers commended the troops for their operational excellence and the high level of professionalism displayed during the drill.

Progressing from Exercise Poorvi Prahar

Building on the momentum of Exercise Poorvi Prahar, which took place in November 2024 and focused on the integration of aviation assets, Ex Prachand Prahaar took the concept a step further. This new exercise validated the full integration of surveillance systems, command and control structures, and precision firepower across all three services of the Indian Armed Forces.

The success of this exercise underscores the Indian Armed Forces’ growing emphasis on jointness and the integration of advanced technologies to enhance operational effectiveness. It demonstrates the readiness of India’s military to handle multi-domain threats, including land, air, sea, space, and cyber, in a rapidly evolving security environment.
