Child Killed in Bomb Blast, Contractor Shot Dead in Manipur
A three-year-old child was killed in a bomb explosion in Noney district, while a contractor was found shot dead in Kakching. Police also recovered a grenade near a fuel station in Imphal.

IMPHAL- Two separate incidents of violence were reported in Manipur on Friday and Saturday, leaving one child dead, a contractor killed in a suspected shooting, and prompting security concerns after a grenade was recovered in Imphal.
In the first incident, a three-year-old child was killed in a suspected bomb explosion in Taolingpung village of Nongpholong Khoupum under Noney Police Station in Noney district on Saturday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:30 am when the child and his father were cleaning the area around their residence. A suspected explosive device reportedly detonated accidentally while the child was assisting his father.

The child died on the spot after sustaining multiple injuries. His father, who was also seriously injured in the blast, was initially treated at Khoupum Primary Health Centre before being referred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal for further treatment.
Police personnel and bomb disposal experts later reached the site to assess the situation. Authorities said a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated to determine the origin of the explosive device.
In a separate incident reported on Friday evening, a 51-year-old contractor was found dead inside his vehicle with bullet injuries in Kakching district.

The deceased was identified as Chingakham Malemnganba Meitei, a resident of Tejpur Awang Leikai. According to reports, he was allegedly shot by two unidentified individuals around 6:30 pm at Keirak Awang Leikai.
Police said a case has been registered at Kakching Police Station and an investigation is underway to identify the assailants. The motive behind the attack has not yet been established.
Following a mobile forensic examination at the scene, the body was sent to the mortuary at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem procedures.

Meanwhile, in another development, police recovered a hand grenade planted at a fuel station in Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, located less than a kilometre from Singjamei Police Station in Imphal.
Authorities said the grenade was safely recovered and defused. A warning note was also reportedly found at the site bearing the message “last warning KCP (PWG).”
The Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), commonly referred to as KCP (PWG), is a banned underground outfit operating in Manipur.
Police are continuing investigations into all three incidents.
