“Delta is cooperating fully with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to investigate the cause of the engine fire,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement.
“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority.”Fire crews were on the scene to extinguish the flames, and the aircraft was towed to a maintenance hangar for inspection.
The incident caused minor disruptions at LAX, with a few flights delayed as emergency vehicles cleared the runway.
Passengers were rebooked on alternative flights, and Delta offered apologies for the inconvenience. The NTSB has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the engine fire, with preliminary findings expected in the coming weeks.
