Drugs Worth ₹36 Crore Seized in Mizoram
Joint operations by central and state agencies along the India–Myanmar border lead to major drug seizures and the arrest of seven alleged traffickers.

AIZAWL- Law enforcement agencies in Mizoram have seized methamphetamine tablets and heroin valued at around ₹36 crore in separate anti-narcotics operations and arrested seven suspected drug peddlers, including three Myanmar nationals, officials said on Thursday.
According to officials, the operations were conducted jointly by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) of Mizoram and the State Excise and Narcotics Department.
During coordinated raids at multiple locations along the India–Myanmar border, security agencies seized 36.434 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 905 grams of heroin. The recovered narcotics are estimated to have a market value of approximately ₹31 crore.

Authorities said four individuals, including one Myanmar national, were arrested in connection with these seizures. The operations were part of intensified surveillance along the porous border region, which has increasingly been used as a transit route for narcotics trafficking.
In separate enforcement actions in Champhai district, police seized additional consignments of heroin and methamphetamine tablets valued at more than ₹4.88 crore. Three persons, including two Myanmar nationals, were arrested in connection with the seizure.

Officials noted that the seizures highlight the persistent challenge posed by cross-border drug trafficking networks operating along the India–Myanmar frontier.
Law enforcement agencies have stepped up coordination and intelligence-sharing to curb the inflow of synthetic drugs and other narcotics into northeastern states.
Further investigations are underway to identify the supply chains and networks linked to the seized contraband.
