Friendly Weapon Shooting Competition Between BSF and BGB

In an endeavor to strengthen the working relationship between Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Mizoram & Cachar Frontier BSF under the guidance of N S Jamwal, IG BSF, organized a Friendly Weapon Shooting Competition between BSF and BGB wef 31 Oct – 03 Nov 2017 at Small Arms Firing Range, Dholchera, Distt. Cachar (Assam).

On 31 Oct, a grand reception was organized for BGB team led by Maj. Md Mahboob Alam alongwith 15 participants at ICP Sutarkandi, Karimganj, Assam, by BSF. Further, the team was escorted to BSF camp Dholchera, Cachar, Assam.

The above shooting competition is part of the ongoing Confidence Building Measure initiative between the two border guarding forces i.e. BSF and BGB, besides promoting mutual trust between them.

The three day friendly shooting competition was inaugurated by Om Parkash, DIG BSF Silchar.

During the competition, both the teams actively participated in the structured championship where the participants engaged the targets from different positions, thereby exhibited their professional acumen of firing skills in different categories & proved their mettle.

BSF team led by  Varinder Kumar, Assistant Commandant, in the neck to neck competition grabbed the winner trophy for the BSF team, whereas L/Nk Fakir Md Ashakullah of BGB was adjudged as the Best Shooter of the Competition.

During the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest R P Sanwal, DIG/PSO, M & C Ftr presented medals and trophies to the winning and runner-up teams respectively, on behalf of Inspector General.

During his address, the chief guest congratulated both the teams for having participated in the most professional manner with competitive spirit and in a friendly atmosphere.

He exhorted the need for more such professional competitions between the two friendly border guarding forces and emphasized that such events create a space for interaction and better functional understanding.
