Acting on a tip off about suspected smuggling of Ganja, the Border Security force ( BSF ) deployed in Meghalaya seized 2000 kgs Ganja and a truck on Friday.
The troops of BSF and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence(DRI), carried out a joint special operation at Thangshalai under PS Mawrynkneng on Shillong bypass. During operation, a truck laden with wasted papers and suspected to be carrying Ganja was intercepted alongwith Driver by BSF party.
During the operation cautious BSF troops seized the above truck loaded with 2000 kgs Ganja worth Rs. 3.2 crore with the vehicle and intercepted the driver.
The consignment was loaded at Agartala (Tripura) under instruction of one local resident popularly known as Dada. The consignment was destined for Barabazar, Kolkata.
Few days back BSF seized 900 kg of Ganja on National Highway from a truck. Anout three months back BSF has also seized 21,000 btls Phensedyl, worth Rs. 26,77,500/- and Rice 220 bags worth Rs.2,31,000/- were seized with one truck.
meanwhile the apprehended persons and seized items handed over to the concerned department for further disposal.
