The operation forms part of a broader crackdown against cross-border arms smuggling and insurgent activities along the India-Myanmar frontier. In a separate operation in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district, conducted on October 25, troops apprehended one ULFA (I) cadre identified as self-styled Corporal Thawseng Asom alias Anupom Dohatiya. The 24-year-old was allegedly involved in the October 17 attack on the Army Camp at Kakopathar, Assam.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of one rifle (MQ-RA81), three magazines, 151 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and grenades from the Pathargaon area. Authorities have handed over the insurgent and recovered items to the Arunachal Pradesh Police.
