Nagaland: Army, youths carry out cleanliness drive in dzukou valley

The Dzukou Valley is located at the borders of the states of Nagaland and Manipur and is well known for its natural environment and seasonal flora. It is situated at an altitude of 2452m above sea level.

KOHIMA- Troops of Red Shield Division under aegis of Spear Corps of Indian Army carried out a Joint Cleanliness Drive at the picturesque Dzukou Valley with volunteers from the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) along the Viswema route on 24th of April 2022.

The Dzukou Valley is located at the borders of the states of Nagaland and Manipur and is well known for its natural environment and seasonal  flora. It is situated at an altitude of 2452m above sea level. The valley borders a region of old-growth forest, and is home to several rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, including the Dzüko Lily (Lilium mackliniae) and the Blyth’s tragopan, which is the state bird of Nagaland.

Dedicated to the conservation of environment and assisting local population, personnel from Indian Army provided logistics support and  manpower for the drive and worked hand in hand with local youth volunteers to clean up the route of plastics and garbage that had accumulated along the scenic trail over time.
