PM Modi Inaugurates 103 Amrit Stations

Haibargaon Becomes Northeast Frontier Railway’s First Redeveloped Station.

GUWAHATI-  In a historic move towards infrastructure modernization, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 103 redeveloped Amrit Stations across India, under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, during a central event held in Rajasthan.

Among these, Haibargaon Railway Station in Assam emerged as the first and only station from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone to be redeveloped and inaugurated as part of this transformative initiative.

This event also marked the dedication of infrastructure projects worth ₹26,000 crore, symbolizing the Government of India’s focus on building a Viksit Bharat through integrated connectivity and state-of-the-art facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi highlighted Indian Railways’ rapid progress over the past 11 years, including the introduction of high-speed trains like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat, alongside the laying of 34,000 km of new tracks and 100% electrification efforts.

The redeveloped Haibargaon Station is envisioned as more than a transit point—it is now a vibrant city centre showcasing world-class amenities, Divyangjan-friendly features, and architectural elements that reflect Assamese cultural heritage, embracing the philosophy of “Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi.”

The inauguration ceremony at Haibargaon witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Assam Governor  Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Minister Keshab Mahanta, Union MoS Pabitra Margherita, and NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, along with local MPs and MLAs.

NFR expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for his visionary leadership, reaffirming its commitment to providing inclusive, accessible, and modern rail services for the people of Northeast India.
