PM Modi to Retire? Sanjay Raut’s Explosive Claim from RSS Meet Sparks Row : Recent claims by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut have sparked discussions regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political future. Raut alleged that during a visit to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur on March 30, 2025, PM Modi informed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat of his intention to retire in September 2025, coinciding with his 75th birthday.

He further speculated that the RSS is seeking a change in leadership and that discussions about Modi’s successor—potentially someone from Maharashtra—took place during this meeting. Raut tied the retirement timeline to Modi reaching the age of 75 in September 2025, a milestone that has previously fueled retirement rumors.

The claim has drawn sharp rebuttals from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed Raut’s statements, asserting that PM Modi will continue to lead the country beyond 2029 and that there is no need to speculate about a successor.

Similarly, senior RSS leader Suresh ‘Bhaiyyaji’ Joshi, who was in Nagpur at the time, stated he was unaware of any discussions regarding Modi’s replacement, casting doubt on Raut’s narrative.

Speculation about Modi’s retirement is not new. Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, similar rumors surfaced about whether Modi would step down at 75, a supposed informal age limit within the BJP.

However, Modi’s continued leadership and electoral success have consistently countered such narratives. The alleged visit to Nagpur, if true, would mark a notable shift, given Raut’s claim of Modi’s decade-long absence from the RSS headquarters.

Social media reflect a mix of skepticism and intrigue. Some netizen have echoed Raut’s claims, pointing to perceived tensions between Modi and the RSS, while others have dismissed it as political posturing by the opposition ahead of future elections. Without official confirmation from the RSS or the Prime Minister’s Office, the story remains speculative.

LiveMint, Published an article on March 31, 2025, titled “‘PM Modi announced retirement in close-door meet at RSS office’: Sanjay Raut’s BIG claim sparks debate,” detailing Raut’s allegations and Fadnavis’ rebuttal.

India Today also Reported on March 31, 2025, with an article titled “PM Modi conveyed retirement plans to RSS chief: Sanjay Raut,” providing additional context on the claim.

But as on today, the April 2, 2025, the claim that PM Modi announced his retirement in a closed-door meeting at the RSS office remains unconfirmed and highly contested. While Sanjay Raut’s statements have fueled political discourse, the lack of corroboration from the RSS or BJP leadership suggests it may be more rhetoric than reality. The situation continues to evolve, with further developments likely to clarify or debunk this narrative in the coming days.
