Violence returns in Manipur : 3 killed in Kuki Thowai in Ukhrul district
Three Kuki village volunteers were reportedly killed in the encounter by armed miscreants.
IMPHAL- Violence returns in Manipur as three mutilated bodies were found following heavy gunfire at Kuki Thowai village in Ukhrul district on Friday, officials said.
A heavy gunfight broke out at Thowai Kuki Village under Litan Police Station in Kamjong district on Friday morning. Sounds of heavy gunfire were heard from the at around 4:30 am.

Three Kuki village volunteers were reportedly killed in the encounter by armed miscreants.
Officials said the bodies of the three youths aged between 24 years and 35 years were found after police carried out a thorough search in the surrounding villages and forest areas.
Bodies of the three persons bore injury marks apparently made using sharp knives and their limbs were also chopped off, officials said.

The ethnic violence since May 03 has killed more than 190 people. 0ver 60,000 people are displaced by the armed conflict that has made little to none progress in terms of peace talks.

Ukhrul itself has not seen violence in the ongoing clashes between the state’s Meitei and Kuki-Zomi communities that took about 190 lives.
The village is located on the border between the Naga-dominated Ukhrul district and the Meitei-dominated Imphal East district. Nagas have not been directly involved in the violence yet.
