Hailakandi
Pushing for zero tolerance for overloaded vehicles, illegal plying of over-dimensional vehicles and those with protruding items, the Hailakandi district administration has constituted a five-member team to stop such practices in the district.
In an order issued here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner, Adil Khan has directed the team comprising Assistant Commissioner, Parikshit Phukan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, NM Barman, District Transport Officer, Nripen Kalita, Superintendent of Taxes, LC Singha and Assistant Conservator of Forest, Akhil Dutta to conduct random checks at different locations in the district and to initiate necessary action for any violation of MV rules and regulations.
District Transport Officer, Nripen Kalita while welcoming the move by the district administration, said hiking penalty and invoking suspension of driving licence would have a huge impact on the overall road transport sector since such practices not only damage the road quality but also cause fatal road crashes snuffing out many precious lives.
