Assam : 2nd edition of NRL Ideation launched for Promoting Startups
Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), Assam has recently launched its second edition of IDEATION-2018. Several startup boot camps were organised in college campuses. Last date of submission for IDEATION 2018 is 30th April 2018.
NRL launched its maiden start-up initiative “Ideation 2017” at Guwahati. This is one of the first such event organised by any of the PSUs in Assam to promote entrepreneurship among local youths.
An official website (www.ideation.nrl.co.in) was launched for online submission of start-up proposals. Start-up proposals were invited for seed funding, early stage funding and scale up funding. An overwhelming 362 startup ideas were received.
After first round of evaluation, 12 startup ideas were shortlisted for the presentation round. From the presentation round three startups were shortlisted for funding; viz. Parking Rhino and Arohan Agri Sciences and Automovill Technologies Pvt. Ltd.. All these three companies are started by young engineers from Assam and has a very promising future for growth and expansion in Assam.
Parking Rhino was founded by Tridib Konwar and Mriganka Deka, two engineering graduates from Assam Engineering College Guwahati, Parking Rhino is one of the best solution for mobile based parking management solution. They have the app for consumers which can be used to find any parking availability in city and also has a software suit which can digitise the entire parking solution and help tracking parking efficiently. Their software can be adapted by any civic or large parking areas to effectively manage, track and enforce parking regulations. They have considerable traction across 10+ cities in India and smart city implementation projects have a great potential for Parking Rhino to make a mark. Parking Rhino has operations in Guwahati from where they are in a mission to implement their solution to Guwahati and any Tier 2/3 cities in North East which has organised parking areas.
Arohan Agrisciences, which is founded by Anabil Goswami and Arindom Hazarika, will utilise the fund in developing and using Bamboo and Water Hyacinth Plastic Composites to make low cost, modular and flood resistant enclosures for livestock suited to the North East. A low cost renewable material like this can serve as the perfect option for their farm infrastructure needs.
Automovill which is one of the very few Assamese startup with Pan India presence started in 2015 by Mridu Mahendra Das and Chinmay Baruah in Bangalore. Chinmay completed his BTech from IIT Dhanbad and MS from Texas Tech University, United States and Mridu is a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Jorhat Engineering College. Before starting Automovill Chinmay was working in US for 9 years and Mridu has worked for 12+ years in Bangalore as a Software Engineer. Based out of Zoo road in Guwahati they are working as an aggregator for car servicing centers to provide a hassle free, transparent and economic car service to its customers. Automovill’s has an android app and a website which can be used by customers to book for any kind of car service, repair and accessories requests, customers can also call them on the phone numbers mentioned on the website. They are able to reduce the cost of service/repair by 30%-40% and provide a quick turn-around time. They come and pick the vehicle and drop it back to the customer’s doorstep after service. Company has presence in Bangalore, Guwahati, Noida, Navi Mumbai and Pune. In Guwahati they have tied up with 15+ workshops and 60+ mechanics to provide quality services to its customers.
