Assam: Himanta inspects site for Kokrajhar Medical College

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited Kokrajhar for site inspection for the construction of Medical College in Kokrajhar.
The BTC administration has already allocated a total 278 bigha of land at Besorgaon for the construction of the medical college. The Kokrajhar medical college is to be constructed at an estimate cost of Rs 382.7 crore. Foundation will be laid by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal & BTC Chief Hagrama Mahilary on Jan 6, 2019.
Talking to Reporters, the health minister said the state government has sanctioned Rs 382 for the construction of the medical college and the construction will be completed in 3 year time.
On the shortage of doctors in the state, Health minister said that ‘ at present state produced around 300 doctors per year and it will be increase to 400 in the next 5 years, In 7-10 years there will be no shortage of doctors in Assam if all the medical colleges come up, he said.
