Assam: AHSEC and KU jointly organized refresher course for HS Subjects teachers

A three-day Refresher course for the Higher Secondary Schools and Junior College Teachers organized by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) was held from the 2nd to 4th of August 2019 at Kaziranga University, Jorhat. The Refresher Course was attended by higher secondary and junior college teachers from all over the state.
The Inaugural Ceremony was held in the University auditorium and was presided over by the Chairman of AHSEC, Dr. Dayanand Borgohain, and Mr. Kamal Jyoti Gogoi, AES, Secretary, AHSEC who presented the objective of the program: to enhance the pedagogy, provide a more holistic approach to education and focus on the changing dynamics of the population’s requirement with regards to quality education, innovation and research, aiming to make India a knowledge superpower by equipping its students with the necessary skills and knowledge and to eliminate the shortage of manpower in science, technology, academics and industry.
The dignitaries on the dais were Dr. P.K Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Ms. Rainy Khetan, Director, Kaziranga University, Prof. Tarun Kumar, Registrar, Kaziranga University, Mrs. Binita Dutta, Member, AHSEC, Sri Himadri J Dutta, President, All Assam HS Teachers and Employee Association, Sri Anisur Rehman, Secretary, All Assam HS Teachers and Employee Association.
During his address Dr. D.N Borgohain, Chairman, AHSEC laid stress on preserving and promoting the culture, history and tradition of Assam which was further reflected upon by Dr. P. K Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Kaziranga University in his inaugural speech where he emphasized the role that academicians and teachers have in shaping the future citizens and also the role of Kaziranga University as it provides a platform where tradition meets technology.
Over the three days, six academic sessions were held every day where resource persons from the state and faculty members of Kaziranga University deliberated upon multiple topics such as Swadeshi Adhyayan, subject papers like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, History, and Geography.
A valedictory session was held on the 4th of August 2019 where Dr. Dambrudhar Nath, Vice-Chancellor of Majuli Cultural University enthralled the audience with his erudite speech. Prof. Tarun Kumar, Registrar of the Kaziranga University also raised many points critical to effective delivery in teaching-learning process during the valedictory function. Mr. Kamal Gogoi, Secretary AHSEC discussed important policy directions given in draft new education policy.
Around 200 participating teachers were of the opinion that they had an enriching and fulfilling experience during these three days, and had words of great appreciation for the physical and technical infrastructure of the Kaziranga University.
