Assam down town University Hosts CIPU Meet

Education leaders at Assam down town University explore how digital transformation can reshape university administration and governance models.

GUWAHATI-  The Assam down town University in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Private Universities (CIPU)  organised a roundtable discussion titled “Reimagining University Administration in the Age of Digital Transformation” at the university campus on Thursday.

The event brought together eminent educationists, policymakers, and university administrators to deliberate on how digital transformation is reshaping higher education governance, accountability, and institutional efficiency.

The session began with a networking lunch that facilitated dialogue among participants.

In his welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar, Vice Chancellor of Assam down town University, reiterated the university’s role in advancing innovation-led academic management and inclusive learning practices.

Delivering the special address, Mr. R. Karthik, Director General of CIPU, emphasised the growing significance of digital frameworks in improving transparency and decision-making within higher education institutions.

The session chair, Prof. (Dr.) D. P. Agrawal, Distinguished Member of the CIPU Board of Advisors and former Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), contextualised the discussion by noting that digital transformation is more than a technological shift.

“Universities stand at the crossroads of change today. Digital transformation is about rethinking systems, empowering people, and creating institutions that are adaptive and inclusive,” said Prof. Agrawal.

The 125-minute roundtable featured wide-ranging discussions on integrating AI in university administration, data-driven academic management, improving student engagement, and strengthening governance through digital tools.

The programme concluded with Prof. (Dr.) Nitul Jyoti Das, Deputy Registrar (Academics), delivering the vote of thanks, acknowledging participants’ contributions and reaffirming Assam down town University’s vision to lead innovation in education.

The event underscored a growing consensus among private universities that digital transformation must align with human-centric governance and inclusive academic values.
