Himanta Biswa Sarma briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Assam’s post-flood recovery roadmap, livelihood restoration and key development initiatives undertaken during the state government’s first 100 days.

NEW DELHI- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed the state’s ongoing flood recovery efforts, rehabilitation plans and broader development agenda.
The meeting, held at Sewa Teerth in South Block, focused primarily on Assam’s roadmap for the next phase of recovery following the devastating floods. Sarma briefed the Prime Minister on plans to rebuild affected areas, restore livelihoods and ensure comprehensive rehabilitation of communities impacted by the disaster.
According to Sarma, Prime Minister Modi had remained closely involved throughout the flood response, regularly reviewing the situation and extending assistance to Assam. The Chief Minister said the discussions focused on taking the recovery mission forward, particularly through reconstruction and restoration of livelihoods.
Sarma said the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government of India’s continued support for Assam’s flood recovery efforts and for taking the rehabilitation mission to its logical conclusion.
The meeting comes as Assam moves from immediate flood response towards the more complex phase of reconstruction and livelihood recovery. While emergency assistance addresses immediate needs, rebuilding damaged infrastructure and restoring the economic activities of affected families remain central to long-term recovery.
Sarma also briefed Modi on the key initiatives undertaken by the Assam government during its first 100 days in office, aimed at fulfilling the mandate received from the people of the state.
