Assam: AdtU Ushers in a New Era of Learning with the Launch of its Online Education Initiative

GUWAHATI-  Assam down town University (AdtU) achieved a defining milestone with the grand launch of its Online Education initiative, held at the Council Room in AdtU Campus.

The ceremony commenced with the auspicious lamp lighting, symbolising the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and the university’s commitment to making quality education accessible without boundaries.

The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Gariasi Dutta, Resident Trustee; Dr. Ashim Barman, Registrar; Dr. Seema Sarma, Dean – Faculty of Commerce and Management; Mr. Anjan Jyoti Das, General Manager (Development); Mr. Nitul Jyoti Das, Deputy Registrar – Academics; Dr. Mrinal Goswami, Deputy Director – E-Learning and Technical; and Mr. Indraneel Sekhar Nath, Assistant Manager. Their presence added significance to the event, reflecting the collective commitment of the university’s leadership towards advancing its vision and objectives.

In his inaugural address, Prof. (Dr.) N. C. Talukdar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of AdtU, underscored the transformative power of online education in today’s rapidly evolving world. He highlighted the initiative’s role in enabling learners from diverse geographies to access flexible, affordable, and world-class higher education — a step aligned with global academic trends and the university’s vision for inclusive excellence.

Dr. Mahendra Kumar Modi, Executive Dean – Academics, addressed the gathering, reaffirming AdtU’s dedication to uncompromising academic standards in the digital learning space. He assured that program design, delivery, and outcomes would parallel the rigour of on-campus programs, with an added focus on embedding industry-aligned skills to enhance graduate employability.

Delivering the keynote, Dr. Mala Dutta, Director – Centre for Distance and Online Education, outlined the initiative’s vision, program offerings, and its robust technological backbone. She detailed the integration of advanced learning management systems, immersive digital content, and dedicated student support frameworks designed to create engaging, outcome-driven learning experiences.

The event concluded with an interactive exchange between faculty members and guests, exploring the immense potential of online education to democratize learning and reach underserved communities across the globe.
