he 36-hour Assam bandh called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU), Selarai Sena and All Rajbongshi Mahila Sammittee demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Koch-Rajbongshis and separate Kamatapur State brought normal life to a standstill in various parts of BTAD including it’s head quarter Kokrajhar on Wednesday.
The bandh effect in BTAD area like Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and kokrajhar districts. Maximum commercial establishment, shops and markets were remained closed. Including govt. and privet offices, banks and educational institutions were also seen closed at the time of bandh.
However some privet vehicles were seen plying on road, while the long journey buses were off the road.
Vehicle are passing in some parts 31C- National Highway in the areas of kokrajhar and Chirang district with the security escort.
The administration biffed up the security in the some remote areas of districts for not happen any unwanted situation during the bandh period.
