Manipur Violence: Minor clashes witness in Thoubal
An irate mob torched the house of an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel in Manipur's Thoubal district, police said on Wednesday.
IMPHAL- The violence in Manipur is not taking the name of stopping. Clashes were also witnessed in Thoubal district on Tuesday. Where the mob allegedly tried to loot arms and ammunition from a camp of the Indian Reserve Force (IRB). To stop the crowd, security personnel fired in the air, in which a 27-year-old man died.

The incident took place at Samaram on Tuesday night after a 27-year-old man, was killed in a clash when a 700-800-strong mob tried to storm the camp of the 3rd IRB at Wangbal, 4 km away, to loot firearms.
The forces tried to bring the situation under control and used teargas shells and rubber bullets at first. But as the armed mob opened fire, the forces shot back, officials said.
Meanwhile, Schools for classes I to VIII reopen in Manipur from today. In majority of the schools, low attendance were recorded. Due to the conflict situation prevailing in the state, the schools have remained shut since the first week of May.

The violence in Manipur erupted for the first time in the state after a ‘tribal solidarity march’ was organized in the hill districts on May 3 in protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
So far more than 100 people have died and several hundred people have been injured. At the same time thousands of people have taken shelter in relief camps.
