Gambegre constituency has garnered substantial attention due to the debut of Mehtab Chandi Sangma, wife of Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma.

Meghalaya By polls LIVE UPDATES- Polling is underway for by-elections in Gambegre constituency in Meghalaya. Voting began at 7 a.m. this morning and will continue until 5 p.m.  Till 9 am, long queues of enthusiastic voters could be seen outside polling stations.

The Gambegre constituency in Meghalaya has garnered substantial attention due to the debut of Mehtab Chandi Sangma, wife of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is contending for her first political position.

She faces strong opponents, including Sadiya Rani M. Sangma of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, representing the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Beside them, Jingjang M. Marak from Congress,  Bernard N. Marak of the BJP,  and independents Sengkrabirth Marak and Jerry A. Sangma are others candidates are fighting the election.

Given the profiles and party affiliations of these candidates, the Gambegre election is anticipated to be a high-stakes contest.

The number of eligible voters in this constituency are 32,254. 31 out of the 51 polling stations in the West Garo Hills have been classified as “critical,” with security measures intensified.
