Kamalamagar: In another major setback to the BJP in Mizoram, the incumbent president of Chakma District BJP and former councilor of CADC Mr Prema Ranjan Chakma resigned from the saffron party and has joined the ruling Mizo National Front on 09 November, 2020, Monday. The unexpected political development has taken place few months after his predecessor and ex-MLA Mr AB Chakma had resigned from his position citing “health issues”.
Prema Ranjan Chakma while speaking to MNF media persons at Kamalanagar shortly after his joining said “there is widespread public disillusionment with the BJP’s plan and policies in CADC because it has miserably failed to fulfill the promises made in the run up to CADC’s MDC General Election and state Assembly Election in 2018”.
“None of the pre-poll promises which were made by the BJP’s central leaders such as direct funding, 6th schedule amendment to enhance the district council powers etc. has been fulfilled. These were nothing but hollow promises”.
There is no scope for BJP’s growth in Mizoram state and it is on the verge of total annihilation because people have realized its leaders speak with a forked tongue and do nothing for the people. We need a party that has genuine concern for the development and empowerment of the masses which are prominently visible in the MNF party’s plans, policies and action, he said.
He praised the ruling MNF government under the most capable leadership of Mr Zoramthanga in the state and Mr Rasik Mohan Chakma in CADC for their efficient governance and bringing development on all fronts.
