Tripura : Clash between BJP and IPFT workers
Agartala
Indigenous People’s Front of Triupra (IPFT) supporters on Saturday morning engaged in a clash with BJP workers and supporters in front of Lefunga police station in West Tripura district.
Both the parties had gone to the police station to file complaint regarding yesterday’s alleged attack by IPFT workers on BJP supporters and causing damage to motorbikes and cars.
The demand was for arresting two main culprits. But when the parties came face to face there were fresh scuffles resulting injuries to some persons belonging to both the groups. Police finally managed to disengage the two warring parties. Police reinforcement was rushed to Lefunga.
For more than a month Lenfunga block has been a troubled area because IPFT supporters were dissatisfied over selection of Chairman of Block Advisory Committee (BAC). IPFT wants the post of BAC chairman of Lefunga RD Block while BJP stuck to its selection for the post.
It is alleged that the Block and the bank located there are not operating for fear of IPFT supporters. A group of IPFT supporters daily sit in front of the bank and people stay away in fear.
However, the leaders of both the parties have been trying to sort out the problem. IPFT President Narendra Chandra Debbarma recently wrote a letter to NEDA chief Himanta Biswa Sarma who assured him to come here and find a solution to the issue.
