The Administration of Hailakandi district, Assam decide to observe Public Grievances Redressal Day on every Tuesday.
Hailakandi
Public Grievances Redressal Day will be observed every Tuesday by the Hailakandi district administration.
Disclosing the decision, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Adil Khan said the day will be observed every Tuesday starting April 3 to empower people to get their grievances redressed within a specific time frame. “Every day I receive lot of complaints and memoranda from members of the public and organisations pertaining to different departments. So I have decided to devise a permanent mechanism where people can talk about their problems directly with officials who can take down complaints and forward it to the concerned departments if they cannot be resolved on the spot,” he said, adding that tracking of complaints received would be monitored regularly so that they are disposed off in a systematic and institutional manner.
Every Tuesday, the process will begin with registration from 9.30 to 10 am followed by hearing of public grievances by the officials. The district heads will have to be present in order to resolve the matter on the spot. In cases, where it is not possible, the concerned departments will fix up a schedule for disposing off the matter.
As part of governance and administrative reforms, the process, besides offering speedy redressal of grievances, also gives an opportunity to review the performance and progress of various government schemes and projects implemented by different departments at the ground.
The public grievance cell will be headed by District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar, who will be assisted by Assistant Commissioner, Parikshit Phukan and other employees.
