Assam: Child scientist from Hailakandi makes it to National Children’s Science Congress

Child scientist Abu Saleh Arif Hassan Choudhury of Hailakandi district has been selected for the 26th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2018.
Choudhury, a ten standard student of Spring Valley Central School was selected for his innovative project on fibre waste of animals titled ‘Paper production from animal waste’. He did the project under the sub theme, ‘Waste to Wealth’ under the tutelage of Shirin Akhtar, a TGT of the school.
Promising young scientist Choudhury made a thin sheet of paper from cow dung and showcased his impressive model to the state level evaluation. His project was highly appreciated, as Choudhury made some recommendations like process of separation, cost effectiveness, chemical analysis, mechanism behind it, et al.
Choudhury will join the select league of around 800 child scientists in the NCSC, 2018 event in Bhubaneswar, Odisha from December 27 to 31 next. Children from the ASEAN and Gulf countries are also likely to attend this programme. The focal theme of this year’s NCSC is ‘Science, Technology and Innovation for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation’.
Nine-child scientists represented Hailakandi district in the Congress at Majuli. Altogether 284 child scientists from 33 districts of the state participated in the four-day event, which was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
NCSC is organised every year in different parts of the country since its inception in 1993 to encourage scientific curiosity, creativity and a scientific temper among students in the age group of 10 to 17, both from the formal school system as well as from those who are out of school or differently abled.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan congratulated the little scientist and his guide teacher for making Hailakandi district proud and hoped that he would bring more laurels at the national level science congress.
Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha also congratulated both of them and wished Choudhury success at the upcoming prestigious event.
