Assam: AASU Leader Beaten To Death, Journalist Injured by Angry Mob in Jorhat
The AASU leader has been identified as Animesh Bhuyan.

JORHAT- A 23-year-old All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader was killed and two others including a local journalist were injured on Monday when an unruly mob attacked them in Jorhat town. The incident reportedly took place after a man was injured in a road accident near the Nirmal Chariali area of Jorhat town.
The AASU leader has been identified as Animesh Bhuyan. Bhuyan was the education secretary of Brahmaputra Anchalik Chatra Sanstha, AASU’s Golaghat unit.

A video of a mob attacking ASSU leader and journalist Mridusmanta Baruah has surfaced on social media.
Animesh is a resident of Dergaon in Golaghat district while journalist Baruah works with a private TV channel. Jorhat police has arrested three people in connection with the incident.

“We are examining the video footage of the incident to identify the culprits involved in the incident. We have arrested three people so far and further investigating is underway. We will arrest everyone involved in the incident, none will be allowed to go scoot free,” said a police official.

The AASU has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the incident.
The students’ body also threatened to launch a mass agitation and call for a bandh in the district if the police fails to book the guilty.
