Skill Utsav–2025 Showcases Vocational Excellence and Skill-Based Education in Assam
Skill Utsav–2025 aimed to encourage students to pursue vocational education and showcase the role of skill development in creating employment opportunities for the youth of Assam.

DHEMAJI- The down town Charity Trust, a recognized Training and Management Partner of Samagra Shiksha, Assam, successfully organized Skill Utsav–2025 at Dhemaji Higher Secondary School, celebrating the importance of skill-based education under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).
The event was graced by Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education, Government of Assam, and Pradan Barua, Member of Parliament, along with principals from various schools, Inspectors of Schools, vocational trainers, and students from across the region.

Under the Samagra Shiksha project, the down town Charity Trust has been implementing vocational education in government schools across Assam by engaging 593 trainers in nine key sectoral skill areas, including:
Healthcare, Tourism & Hospitality, Retail, IT-ITeS, Agriculture, Beauty & Wellness, Electronics & Hardware, Apparel, and Automotive.
Through this initiative, structured vocational training is provided to students from classes IX to XII, equipping them with industry-relevant skills that align with National Occupational Standards (NOS).
The event celebrated the achievements of students who successfully completed vocational training and assessments, with NSQF-aligned certificates awarded by respective Sector Skill Councils. These certificates serve as a gateway to advanced job-oriented courses and employment in relevant sectors.
In recognition of excellence, ten outstanding skill trainers were felicitated for their significant contributions to promoting vocational education in Assam.

A Skill Exhibition was also organized, where students showcased innovative projects and hands-on demonstrations, highlighting creativity, technical know-how, and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the event, officials from the down town Charity Trust reaffirmed their commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the evolving job market.
The program concluded with a collective call to integrate skill development as a core component of education, empowering every student not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical abilities to build a sustainable and successful future.
