Congress Is Minority-Dominated in Assam, alleged Bhupen Borah
Assam BJP leader Bhupen Borah alleged that the Congress in the state is being controlled by Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain.

GUWAHATI- Bhupen Borah on Sunday alleged that the Congress party in Assam has become a minority-dominated political organisation under the influence of Rakibul Hussain.
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Borah claimed that Hussain has effectively taken control of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and that the party no longer represents all sections of Assamese society.
“Except for one MLA, all Congress legislators elected to the Assembly belong to the minority community. This clearly shows the direction in which the Congress party in Assam is heading,” Borah said.

Borah was previously associated with the Congress and had served as president of the APCC before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Assembly elections. Contesting on a BJP ticket, he won the Bihpuria Assembly constituency.
The BJP leader also praised Himanta Biswa Sarma and credited his leadership for the BJP’s electoral success in the state.
Referring to recent political developments, Borah said he had earlier predicted that certain political outcomes would become evident after the Assembly elections, though many had initially doubted his remarks.

“After what people witnessed recently about Rakibul Hussain’s control over the Congress party in Assam, all doubts among the people of the state have disappeared. Moreover, the people have given overwhelming support to Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership,” he said.
According to Borah, the BJP government in Assam was formed with the support and aspirations of the people and would continue to strengthen its position in the state.
