Assam: AdtU celebrates world optometry day
The World Optometry Day celebration at Assam down town University emphasized the crucial role of optometry in enhancing global wellness.

GUWAHATI- Assam down town University (AdtU), Guwahati, proudly celebrated World Optometry Day with a series of engaging activities aimed at promoting eye health and awareness. The event was led by the Programme of Optometry, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, along with the support of faculty members, students, and the broader university community.
The World Optometry Day celebration at Assam down town University emphasized the crucial role of optometry in enhancing global wellness. This year’s theme, “Eyes to the Future: Optometry Improving Global Wellness”, highlighted the importance of vision care in everyday life and the need for preventive eye health measures.
As part of the celebration, a Free Eye Screening Camp was conducted on March 21st, providing essential vision screenings to students, faculty, and staff. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about common eye health issues and encourage timely intervention for better visual outcomes.

On 22nd March, a special Lecture Series by Guest Faculty Dr. Angshuman Deka, Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Director Guwahati eye & Multi-Speciality Centre, featured esteemed speakers who shared their expertise on key topics related to Optometry and Eye Health. These insightful sessions enriched the knowledge of attendees and emphasized the latest trends in vision science.
Additionally, an interactive Scientific Poster Competition was organized, allowing Optometry students to showcase their research and insights on various aspects of eye health.

This poster competition was inaugurated by honourable Vice Chancelor of Assam down town University, Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar sir. All the poster presented by participants reflected the ongoing advancements and innovations in the field of optometry.
The event concluded with a vibrant Cultural Program, fostering a sense of unity and celebration among participants.
